Kochi: The nondescript voluntary organization of ‘Theruvora Pravarthaka Samithy” headed by Murugan has been doing a yeomen’s service in the up liftment of destitutes and child laborers for the last so many years.
The name of the organization literally means ‘roadside workers’ and quite truly their main focus has always been public places such as bus stands and railway stations. So far, Murugan has become a savior for countless children who were victims of domestic violence or child labor.
Many children, who run way from their houses, end up in the safe hands of Murugan who promptly offers them food and permanent shelter in orphanages or poor homes run by recognized agencies. He drives an auto to fund his charitable endeavors and a prominent builder in the city donated him a brand new auto last day, when he came to know about Murugan’s noble social service. In the fast paced life where virtues and empathy are shoved into the backburner in the race for material gains, Murugan has shown a trail blazing path of compassion and empathy for fellow human beings. While the neo rich of Kochi prefers to turn a Nelson’s eye to the plights of the less fortunate souls, Murugan has indeed shown the courage to do his might in spite of his countless hardships, which bogs him down.
He is planning to donate his old auto to a charity home in Aroor as he gets ready to pursue his social work with enhanced vigor. Six years ago he had purchased his first auto by pooling his savings he made by selling newspapers in bus stand along with his friend Chinna’s contribution, by selling off his gold ring. If the tribe of Murugan increases, it is sure to bring smiles and solace to millions of underprivileged who struggle to make both ends meet.
